June 17th

Here's Terryl with their pet turtles. Left Carmichael, and drove to Barstow, California. Most of the day it was over 100 F ! Going through the Mojave dessert was HOT, and arriving in Barstow was even HOTTER, 106 F !!!  We are not used to this heat. And the Jeep actually started over heating a bit. Poor Rick and Elaine had to suffer without air conditioning and were soaked the whole way today. Rick really had to keep an eye on the engine temperature even with the drastic cooling measures he took. His temp gauge rises whenever it is over 95 and we need to slow down a bit to compensate. But we are getting there.

We will be leaving early tomorrow 5am? to try and beat the heat to go up the plateau to Las Vegas. That's it for now.
